ENTP personality’s overview

People with ENTP personality traits are also known as the “Debater” or “Innovator” because they love rebuilding ideas and arguing with others about them. They love to absorb new information and formulate new theories with what they know. 

Debaters enjoy being around people and you’ll find them dragging others into debates. They’re considered the devil’s advocate because they succeed at shredding others’ arguments and beliefs. Sometimes, they don’t do that because they’ve a specific purpose or goal, but because they find it entertaining.

Debaters love to argue just for the sake of arguing because no one enjoys mental sparring more than them. That’s why not everyone can get along with them due to their ways of questioning everything and their unyielding honesty. What they find entertaining often affects others because they’re not sensitive. Understanding other people’s feelings usually is a complex yet rewarding challenge for them.

1. Hawks – My Hero Academia

Hawks is portrayed as an analytical and inquisitive character in MHA. He doesn’t like formalities or follow strict procedures, he’s a bit arrogant and will often show taunting behaviour. Hawks never cared about social status or being recognised by others.

Hawks is rational and can ideate new strategies as soon as he understands a situation. He’s also far-sighted and likes to anticipate future scenarios, formulating possible strategies ahead the time just in case something happens.

2. Osamu Dazai – Bungou Stray Dogs

Dazai from Bungou Stray Dogs is quite a mysterious person and it’s difficult to read him. But he’s quick at analysing all kinds of possibilities and hence, it’s easy for him to adapt to problematic situations. He can get quickly bored though and that’s why he often finds new things to distract himself.

Although we can see Dazai usually attempting suicide, he can also resolve complex cases without much effort. Still, not everyone can follow his insensitive jokes or eccentric ideas…

3. Najimi Osana – Komi Can’t Communicate

Najimi is extremely curious about everything but can get bored if a situation doesn’t seem entertaining to them. 

Making friends is like breathing for Najimi because they can connect with everyone thanks to their charisma, even though it wasn’t easy for them to befriend Komi… They like to feel they’ve control over the situations and often pull the strings behind the scenes without being noticed by others. That’s why in Komi Can’t Communicate, Najimi frequently gets what they want.

4. Gen Asagiri – Dr. Stone

Although Gen isn’t as intelligent as Senku in the science field, he takes great pride in his knowledge of the human psyche. Therefore it’s not difficult for Gen to manipulate others and outsmart his opponents. 

Gen is often oriented to things that will be entertaining for him, well, he was a magician after all. He gets excited with new ideas, even though he can lose focus if he’s not sufficiently motivated to do something.

5. Hanako – Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun

In Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun, Hanako is mischievous as he enjoys teasing others with childish pranks, so not everyone can keep up with his energetic and eccentric behaviour. He likes to argue with others simply because he thinks it’s fun, sometimes he even asks questions that may be uncomfortable for some. Still, he enjoys being around others, proving that he has great social skills, but sometimes he may mess things up with his playful nature.

Hanako is also smart and can find solutions to all problems. But he always thinks that his strategies or solutions are better than those proposed by others. He will do as he pleases without caring or thinking deeply about how others may feel because of his actions.

6. Vanitas – Vanitas no Carte

Vanitas is a quick thinker, but he doesn’t consider morals or values when he ideates plans or make decisions. For Vanitas, emotions aren’t a valid point to take into account when making decisions. If someone else’s suggestion doesn’t sound rational, he won’t bother paying attention to them. 

Vanitas can adapt to the atmosphere and make his way into other people’s conversations, even though sometimes his words aren’t to the liking of others… He’s also somewhat flirtatious, but he shows that side of him only to tease others because it’s fun for him.

7. Sakamoto Tatsuma – Gintama

Sakamoto possesses a cheerful attitude, but sometimes that cheerfulness can lead him to troublesome situations… Some of his actions and commentaries can also get misunderstood as he seems to take everything as a joke. Yet, even if it’s not noticeable, he’s smart and can give some helpful insights or inspirational speeches. He’s innovative when it comes to negotiating and people praise him for that, stating that it’s his main strength.

For Sakamoto, it’s hard to focus on one subject at a time. He tends to start things but never finish them as he forgets about them quickly. He’s not interested in boring stuff and usually leaves all the formal procedures to his subordinate, Mutsu.

8. Dororo – Dororo

Despite having an innocent appearance, Dororo is mischievous and often plays tricks to achieve what she wants. She has a determined and daring attitude, but this puts her in many problematic situations. But she always comes up with creative strategies to get out of trouble. 

As a child, Dororo is curious and doesn’t fear to approach others even if they don’t look trustworthy. She’s extroverted and her way of communicating with confidence is interesting and charming.

9. Askeladd – Vinland Saga

Askeladd in Vinland Saga is manipulative, sly as well as charismatic. Although he is physically strong and has great swordsmanship skills, his main strength is his intelligence. He’s a great strategist and also has praiseworthy improvisational skills. He can shift from one plan to another as soon as he gets more information about a specific situation.

10. Izaya Orihara – Durarara!!

The perfect example of anime characters with ENTP personality is Izaya. He likes to explore things and people in eccentric ways to gain more knowledge. He enjoys debating and sometimes does that just to test his wit. 

Izaya finds it amusing to put people in chaotic situations just to observe how they’ll react. He’s very charismatic but also manipulative and enjoys mocking others. 

Whenever there is a chaotic situation in Durarara!!, Izaya will most likely be the one who is pulling the strings behind the scenes. He likes to demonstrate his superiority and doesn’t like to feel controlled.
