Genshin Impact Rosaria Review: The gothic Sister

*Contains spoilers

Rosaria appeared for the first time during Ver. 1.2 when Genshin Impact introduced the Dragonspine area to players. But she wasn’t released as a playable character until Ver. 1.4. Still, since her first appearance, Rosaria drew players’ attention thanks to her looks and mysterious aura.

Here I bring a character review of Sister Rosaria from Genshin Impact!

Rosaria’s Overview

Genshin Impact Rosaria Review

Rosaria is a Cryo polearm character released during Genshin Impact’s Ver. 1.4 in April 2021.

Rosaria is a Sister of the Church of Favonius, but only by name because her cold and unorthodox demeanour doesn’t make her seem like one… She’s unpredictable and usually, she works alone without notifying anyone.

Lore’s Review

Rosaria - Thorny Benevolence

Rosaria was born in a remote village, but some bandits killed her family and took her away with them. The bandits raised Rosaria as a crew member but mostly treated her as a servant and a tool. They taught her how to fight, kill and steal, among other nasty skills.

Every day was a survival battle for Rosaria, needing to fight outsiders and comrades alike. She was forced to grow up in an environment where she needed to strive to survive against hunger and cold.

One frigid night, Rosaria tried to run away from the gang because the poor conditions and lack of food supplies made people starve. She couldn’t eat her fill and was about to die from hunger. Therefore, she tried to escape, but one of the gang’s elders followed her and brought her back. It was the same old man who had taken her from her village.

The man told Rosaria that the only way she could run from the crew without becoming a traitor was through combat. She needed to kill the old man to gain her freedom, but no one thought that little girl could win… To their surprise, the old man fell to the ground while the girl emerged victorious from the combat.

The bandits noticed a Cryo Vision in Rosaria’s hand after the battle and they thought it was better to have a Vision holder rather than an old man in the crew.

But while everyone was paying attention to the Vision, a question crept into Rosaria’s heart… Did the man feel genuine affection for the child he stole and thus, he let her win on purpose?

In the end, the Knight of Favonius wiped out the entire bandit crew except for Rosaria. Due to her young age, she was forgiven and brought to Mondstadt’s Cathedral to rehabilitate because she still had the chance to live a normal life.

Rosaria constantly skipped her classes at the Church as she preferred to hunt in the wild instead of becoming a faithful Sister. She, who grew up in the shadows, considered herself a child of the moonlight and was inevitable not to seek the embrace of the darkness.

Genshin Impact Rosaria Review

No one knows how Rosaria became a Sister of the Church because she doesn’t work with her colleagues or attend the activities. Also, her unorthodox behaviour caused her to be lectured a thousand times… Hence she’s a Sister of the Church in name only.

Rosaria may not be devout, but she takes care of the dirty job in the shadows. If someone seems suspicious to her, she wouldn’t hesitate to investigate and kill them. Under the aegis of the Church, she works as the purveyor of justice in Mondstadt. She feels indebted to the city that offered her a chance for redemption.

While everyone lives under the bright sunlight, Rosaria wanders under the cold and piercing moonlight.

Rosaria as a playable character review

Rosaria 4-star Cryo Polearm user

Rosaria is a polearm user who can deal fluid and quick attacks on enemies. She can pierce, stab and slash small enemies while dealing Cryo DMG. She’s a great addition to a player’s team because she can work great as a DPS or Cryo support.

Rosaria’s Normal attack, “Spear of the Church”, allows her to perform 5 consecutive fast strikes. If you have her at C1, her normal attack DMG will increase by 10% for 4 seconds if you deal a CRIT hit with Rosaria.

The E skill “Ravaging Confession” allows Rosaria to swiftly switch positions while fighting an enemy, dealing consistent Cryo DMG to them. If players successfully stab an opponent after dashing behind them, Rosaria’s CRIT Rate will increase by 12%. Still, Rosaria won’t be able to pierce through an enemy of a larger build, so players will need to manually go behind them to activate her passive.

Aside from dealing Cryo DMG, the E skill also works as a great battery to recharge her Burst skill or the one from other characters.

Rites of Termination

Rosaria’s Burst skill “Rites of Termination” makes her summon an Ice Lance that will deal Cryo DMG within the AoE every 2 seconds. The Ice Lance only lasts for 8 seconds and has a 15-second CD duration. But at C2, the Burst duration increases by 4 seconds, making it a stable source of Cryo infliction.

The best thing is that, after casting the Burst skill, it’ll increase the CRIT Rate of the team except herself by 15% of Rosaria’s CRIT Rate for 10 seconds. But this only works if you have ascended her Passive Talent “Shadow Samaritan” to level 2.

Passive Talent Shadow Samaritan

Like almost any other character, Rosaria gets a great boost after getting her constellations, so the more constellations you have, the better.

The best constellation, in my opinion, is her C2, mainly if you want her to be a DPS because this constellation will increase the duration of her Burst skill. Her C4 is great if you use her as a support because it helps with her Energy Recharge. Her C5 increases her Burst level by 3 and at C6 Rosaria’s Burst can decrease the enemies’ Physical RES by 10% for 10 seconds.

Rosaria Full Constellation

Overall, I must say that Rosaria is a solid Cryo polearm user and her skills can be of great help to the player’s team.

Strengths

  • Rosaria’s Passive Talent, “Shadow Samaritan”, can boost the CRIT Rate of the team after using her Burst skill.
  • Passive Talent “Night Walk” increases the team SPD at night (6:00pm-6:00am).
  • Rosaria’s E skill allows her to teleport behind an enemy to attack them. Her CRIT Rate will increase by 12% for 5 seconds after striking an opponent.

Weaknesses

  • Rosaria’s Burst skill has a limited range
  • Her E skill doesn’t work against larger enemies like Ruin Guards

Recommended artifacts and weapons

Rosaria is a versatile character in Genshin Impact as you can build her as a Physical DPS or supporting character.

If you want to build Rosaria as a DPS, you should focus on stats like CRIT DMG/Rate and Physical DMG bonus. Otherwise, if you decide to build her as a Cryo support, you should prioritise on Cryo DMG bonus and CRIT Rate stats. Plus, considering that she doesn’t have energy issues, you can put a Sands of Eon on her that has ATK as the main stat.

Physical DPS

Artifacts:

Pale Flame, Bloodstained Chivalry and Gladiators Final Sets
  • 2-piece set Pale Flame: It grants 25% Physical DMG bonus.
  • 2-piece set Bloodstained Chivalry: This piece set will also grant 25% Physical DMG bonus. Combining both sets make a 50% Physical DMG bonus, which is great for Physical DPS Rosaria.

Or:

  • 2-piece set Gladiators Finale: This artifact set boosts Rosaria’s ATK by 18%.
  • 2-piece set PF/BSC: As I mentioned before, any of these 2-piece sets grants a 25% Physical DMG bonus. So, this option is a viable one for Rosaria as well.

Players can also use a 4-piece set Gladiators Finale or a 4-piece set Pale Flame.

Best Weapons:

Genshin Impact Rosaria Review
  • Staff of Homa (5-stars): This polearm is a great option because it has CRIT DMG as a secondary stat. It also provides an ATK bonus based on 0.8% of Rosaria’s max HP.
  • Primordial Jade Winged-Spear (5-stars): This polearm has a high base ATK and CRIT Rate as substat.
  • Crescent Pike (craftable 4-stars): It’s a viable option for DPS Rosaria as it has a Physical DMG bonus as a secondary stat. After picking up an Elemental Particle, normal and charged attacks can deal an additional ATK for 5 seconds.
  • Dragonspine Spear (4-stars): It grants Physical DMG bonus. While performing normal and charged attacks, there’s a chance to drop an Everfrost Icicle, which will deal 80% AoE ATK DMG. Plus, considering that Rosaria’s a Cryo character, enemies affected by her element will take 200% ATK DMG by the icicle instead of 80%.
  • Deathmatch Spear (4-stars): If you have access to the Battle Pass, this polearm is a good option thanks to its CRIT Rate substat.
  • Blackcliff Pole(4-stars): It has CRIT DMG as a substat, making it a great choice for Main DPS Rosaria.

Cryo Support

Artifacts:

Genshin Impact Rosaria Review
  • 2-piece set Blizzard Strayer: This artifact set grants 15% Cryo DMG bonus.
  • 2-piece set Noblesse Oblige: It gives 20% Burst DMG bonus.

Or:

  • 4-piece set Noblesse Oblige: Aside from the 20% Burst DMG bonus, this set increases the team’s ATK by 20% for 12 seconds after using the Burst skill. It provides solid solo damage for Rosaria and a great supportive buff for the team.

Best Weapons:

Polearms - Genshin Impact
  • Prototype Starglitter (craftable 4-stars): This polearm has ER as a substat. Also, after using Rosaria’s E skill, her normal and charged attacks DMG will increase by 8% for 12 seconds.
  • Deathmatch Spear (4-stars): Considering it has a high CRIT Rate as a substat, it’s a good option for a supportive role. As I mentioned before, Rosaria’s Burst skill can increase the CRIT Rate of the party by 15% of her own. So the higher the CRIT Rate, the better.
  • Favonius Lance (4-stars): This polearm is a good option for Rosaria if you want to spam her Burst or allow her to work as a battery for another character.

Is Rosaria good for your team?

Rosaria Official Art

To be honest, I didn’t use Rosaria that much until recently as I wanted to try her out and let me say that I don’t regret spending any resources on her. In my opinion, she’s a solid Cryo unit and worth investing in if you want a DPS or a Cryo support character.

Rosaria is a versatile character with a really fluid playstyle, making things better as you use her. What’s more is that she’s not difficult to obtain because she’s a 4-star character, plus her constellations won’t be that hard to get.

Rosaria is one of my favourite 4-star character of Genshin Impact and I highly recommend building her.
